Nothing To It

Today I finally checked my Intense Debate account and moderated the one comment in my moderation folder. One, single, lonely comment. How sad. Can you hear the crickets chirping over there as loudly as they are here? Though my blog views aren't sky-rocketing and I'm not getting a million comments here, I still want to write stuff. It doesn't have to be groundbreaking or introspective or emotionally revealing... blah blah blah. I may have set some precedents here that I'm not necessarily comfortable with all the time. I realise I haven't written anything in a while and there's good reason for it.
Well, I've been trying to get my shit together. Really and truly. So, there isn't any drama or projects or breaking news or tragedy to share but that's a good thing. The most tragic thing that happened to me recently was that I got sick and then my kid got sick. I took him to the doctor and then we had to wait a really long time to fill his prescription. I couldn't remember to take my own medicine, let alone be responsible for another living being. Complete and utter misery, I know.
I need my eyes examed soon. I'm starting classes this spring semester and I'm  ready for this next phase of my life. I'm not jubilant, I mean, it's not gushing out from my every pore but I'm happy with my life. Satisfied. But that's about it... don't ask me specifics about my education because I don't have a damn clue. Don't you dare ask me what I'll study or what majors I'm considering because I'm not even ready to be tied down yet! I'm heading in the general direction of my goal and that's sufficient for now-- Arts. Sciences has too much mathematics for me. Not that I hate Math but I don't LOVE Math. Me and Math aren't gonna get hitched or move in together and have a bunch of rug-rats out of wedlock. Math is more of an acquaintance of mine... we're not even that close anymore. I don't even feel like striking up polite conversation with Math. We just leave each other the hell alone. It's awkward when we see each other and there isn't a third party to act as a social buffer. Especially in lonely corridors. : \
Yep.

Reading and more Reading

Tomorrow, I'm going to see the doctor about my back; he'll probably prescribe an anti-inflammatory for it then before you all know it, I'll be as good as new, jumping rope and hopping scotch. :P pppft I've been doing an incredible amount of reading lately, what with the two whole books I'm trying to finish and the side-job crochet experiments. It's been a lil' bit of a strain on the old eyeballs. O_o
Maybe I should just go ahead and get an eye check-up once and for all. God, I'm starting to feel old. Heheh, don't start that 'You're-still-young' garbage. I've started wearing my glasses again to read and use the computer plus I try to take frequent breaks. I hate my glasses, they make me look even older and nerdier than I already feel. Someone please tell me I look like an intellectual bombshell before I spiral into another fit of crocheting table-doilies. My scalp is suffering from a dandruff epidemic, I'll pick up some good herbs from the Indian market once we settle into the new abode. Oh! I have a single gray hair but it's not like I can part my hair on it to prove to you that I am, in fact, getting old. Maybe just photograph it... as evidence.

Errands

Today I got to the mall and checked out a couple of shops for new glasses. The experience was disappointing, to say the least. I didn't find anything in my price range or that I really liked, and the ones I did like turned out to be reading glasses. What a drag... At least Krishna Chandra was able to have some fun. As it turns out, there is a nice little playground inside the mall which is open to children who are 42" tall and less, but a lot of of older kids managed to get in(there's no enforcement). There was one girl that was a little annoying.. she kept climbing on the fake bridge and jumping off the side. I wonder if she is suicidal or will be in the future..? Anyway, she almost landed on a one-year-old baby and that nearly gave me a heart attack. I saw this totally stupid commercial just now for Dunkin' Donuts. There are three zombied-out kids being sucked into their television set by its' super powered teleportation rays. Just as the children are almost sucked into the set, the father comes home with a box of Dunkin' Donuts and the kids are magically released by the television's maya rays and go running to the dining area. Is Dunkin' Donuts telling America that donuts are better than television? Or that donuts are the couch potato anti-dote? In the late afternoon, Krishna Chandra fell asleep on the sofabed upstairs and I took advantage of his nap to take time for myself. I was long overdue for a haircut and decided to go to the salon down the street. (The trim turned out fine though I still think it feels too short.) The lady kept commenting to her friend about how long my hair was and I started to snicker a little. "Largo, largo, largo!" I went to the counter to pay for my visit only to very quickly realise how retarded I was. I asked her if she accepted debit/credit cards, and she quickly said, "No, cash only" I checked my wallet as I looked around to see an ATM, but alas, there was none. What kind of establishment doesn't accept plastic? I was totally pissed off. I called up my hubby to hit him up for some cash, as I had only three bucks on hand, but he was like, "You know I don't carry cash!" I was in a wee bit of a pickle but we managed to hatch a last-minute plan. I would stay at the salon (as a hostage) while Maria went home to look after Krishna Chandra, meanwhile, my dearest prabhu would pick up some cash and swing by the salon on the way back to release me from my captors. I sat patiently in the salon, flipping through a magazine as my husband "rushed to my rescue". He joked on the whole way home about how I was being held hostage. He used words like "danger" and "hostage situation", which would paint an image of a mad hairdresser holding scissors to a lock of my hair and shouting, "Gimme the money, mister, or the lady gets it!" LOL. I liked the intensity of his words though, he exaggerates a lot which would make him a great story-teller if he could ever get over his shyness. Another dramatic day....

Late night...

I stayed up late last night after starting up a new crochet project. I saw a pattern for crochet slippers and thought, "Hmm, I should make that." and I was quickly infected with the crochet-bug. After starting it off, I couldn't stop myself and stayed up to 1 am crocheting the footwear for Maria. This morning I woke up and I had watery, itchy eyes. It's been happening every morning these past few days and I think it's my eye allergies acting up again. I have to get my eyes checked soon, as I've noticed that my vision is getting blurry again. I should be wearing my glasses but I never know exactly where they are. They're so light and fragile though, even if I wear them, Krishna Chandra finds a way to slip them off my face and nearly break them in half. I've decided to find a pair that are indestructible. Don't be surprised if you see me walking down the street with huge granny glasses. This time I'll get those titanium frames which are supposed to be super resilient, but I still don't know if they're indestructible, I have a two-year-old after all. For those of you without experience, a two-year old is the most destructive natural force known to man, the equivilent of one hydrogen blast. The boy becomes more clever and charming by the day. He can manipulate you into doing anything, and even if it will inevitably be detrimental to you, he will leave you feeling deeply appreciative of this wonderful opportunity to serve him in some indirect way. He would make a great diplomat, I reckon. Yesterday, around 8:30pm, he suddenly started asking for pancakes and although I knew in my heart that pancakes were not a good idea, I decided to whip up a batch for him anyway. He asked so nicely and gave a sweet, innocent gaze when he uttered the words, "Mommy, make pancakes." His voice is enchanting, it is really, truly enchanting. He can bewitch you with that sweet voice and gentle diction. I knew that pancakes would make him hyper and that it would be problematic for me later on, but still out of love and weakness I made them. Instead of maple syrup I subsituted agave nectar, which helped keep him tame. Actually, the only thing he did was demand to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender, and so we ended up watching a couple episodes together.
